We are looking for a R&D Project Manager for our client ABB Marine & Ports in Vuosaari, Helsinki. In this role, you will lead global research and development projects focused on electrical energy systems, automation, and digitalization for the maritime industry. About the role

As an R&D Project Manager, you will take full ownership of complex product development projects—from planning to execution. Your work will focus on developing innovative technologies and systems for ABB’s Marine Service and Digital business line. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, international environment and play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.

Work tasks

• Lead and manage R&D projects from initiation to successful completion
• Work with advanced technologies such as frequency converters (drives), battery storage, distributed power generation, DC microgrids, power and energy management systems, and digital energy optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to align technical efforts with business objectives
• Promote innovation and technical excellence to strengthen ABB’s leadership in the market
• Preparing and maintaining documentation of electrical systems

We are looking for

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a similar field
• 1–2 years of experience in project management, preferably within the industrial or technology sectors
• Experience in leading R&D projects
• Knowledge of system drives and distributed power generation is considered an advantage
• A creative and analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
• A team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach
• Familiarity with lean and agile R&D methodologies and an IPMA C certification (or equivalent) are beneficial
