The Strategy Manager will join the Program Management Office, which is part of Group Staff functions. High ambitions from the Ahlsell management team and the owners to drive strategic change and improvements have created a need for additional support for the most prioritized initiatives.
The successful candidate will support in various high-profile initiatives and areas spreading across multiple functional areas. Such as supporting new business development, initiatives driving improved sustainability, assist in managing large integrations or driving other initiatives relating to operational improvement.
In addition to driving initiatives a significant share of the time will be spent supporting the annual strategic process which includes updating and developing the long-term strategic direction as well as ensure it is rolled-out in the full organization.
The role is based in Stockholm (Marievik) with limited travel – up to 20% during peaks, predominantly to meet with the management teams of other Ahlsell offices, particularly in the key markets of Norway, Denmark and Finland.
Hands on program, project and analytical support to strategic improvement initiative
- Support and drive specific strategic projects (e.g. supporting strategic M&A activities, project manage together with external consultants, drive specific areas together with the country management teams)
- Conduct analytical deep-dives and solution development
- Build understanding of financial impact of strategic decisions and provide recommendations during the transformation journey, as well as consequences of initiatives under/overperforming
Create transparency on strategic initiatives and promote proactive action
- Responsibility for certain areas of the strategic tracking and follow-up of initiatives
Be an active contributor and co-manage the annual strategic process of the Ahlsell group, e.g.
- Conducting required analysis to support strategy development
- Coordinate with countries in driving the strategic process
- Documentation of the strategy for further roll-out
- Follow-up and ensure successful milestone development
Organization
- Reporting to group Head of PMO
- The PMO functions belongs to the wider group finance teams (e.g. including controlling and group pricing functions)

- Work with, and gain support from, these stakeholders across the organization balancing diplomacy and tact with assertiveness to gain genuine buy-in
- Business acumen, strategic vision, well structured, financially literate, fact-based, and effective communicator
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – eagerness to learn and explore new analytical tools – curiosity in leveraging data to find insights
- Strong operational business awareness and ability to quickly develop an understanding of the key drivers, levers, issues and constraints of Ahlsell (e.g. culture, organization, industry practices)
- Approximately four years’ experience in top-tier management consulting, business development or similar role with exposure to top management
- Proven track record in successfully leading and managing small/medium projects with a focus on change management
- Experience of supporting thought leadership, strategy, M&A and complex change
- Prior experience, exposure or knowledge in related industry or business an advantage
