Ahlsell runs a very transaction and data intense business. Although data is easily accessible the sheer volume create a challenge when conducting more advanced and granular analytics. But, given the starting point, this is typically the level that is required to discover insights that truly can create business values. When Ahlsell has been able to apply these skillset, it has been clear across diverse areas (such as logistics, pricing, sales, etc.) the added value it brings.
To strengthen this capabilities Ahlsell is now looking to expand the capabilities within these areas. The Strategic Analyst will join the Program Management Office, which is part of Group Staff functions. The successful candidate will support the high ambitions from the Ahlsell management team and owners to drive strategic change and improvements, especially where there is a need for strong analytical skills.
The role is based in Stockholm (Marievik) with limited travel, predominantly to meet with the management teams or project teams of in other Ahlsell offices, particularly in the key markets of Norway, Denmark and Finland.
Hands on program, project and analytical support to strategic improvement initiatives or complex problems
- Support the initiatives with strong analytical and presentation capabilities
- Conduct analytical deep-dives, modelling and solution development
- Build understanding of financial impact of strategic decisions, as well as consequences of initiatives under/overperforming
Develop analytical models that can be implement in day-to-day tracking of the business for a broader group of stakeholders
- Go from ad-hoc analytics supporting individual projects / problem solving questions into models used on a continuous basis in the organization
- Develop analytical models for tracking development of the overall PMO portfolio
Organization
- Reporting to group Head of PMO
- The PMO functions belongs to the wider group finance teams (e.g. including controlling and group pricing functions)
Key stakeholders
- Project teams and functional stakeholders in supported areas (such as logistics, pricing, procurement, sales)
- Ahlsell Group Management
- Strong operational business awareness and ability to quickly develop an understanding of the key drivers, levers and issues and constraints
- Business acumen, strategic vision, well structured, financially literate, fact-based, and effective communicator
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – eagerness to learn and explore new analytical tools – curiosity in leveraging data to find insights
- Approximately 2-4 years’ experience in top-tier management consulting, business development or similar role
- Proficiency in modelling and experience in analytical tools, such as Excel data models, power queries, python or similar
- Proven track record of efficiently handling large data sets
- Prior experience, exposure or knowledge in related industry or business an advantage
