Modelon is forming a new team in Lund for developing a new web app to intuitively set-up simulation and optimization experiments and visualize big data for decision making. Therefore, we need to recruit an experienced Tech Lead to set-up and lead this team.

Modelon has already developed a web app for building models and a backend for performing simulations on the cloud called Modelon Impact: This will be complemented by the experimentation web app that is targeted to a larger user category not involved in creating models but involved in using models to make model-based product design decisions.

The new web app will enable running thousands of simulations in order that our users can find the optimal selection of components and parametrization of their new product offers. Our users typically work with designing sustainable energy, automotive and aerospace solutions, i.e., wind power plants, solar power plants, carbon-capture technology, electric cars, and electric airplanes. They want to perform post processing of simulation results, Monte Carlo simulations, sensitivity analysis, optimizations, machine learning training, etc. The users need a convenient way to define workflows to simplify repetitive work. The vision includes being able to perform such tasks also from tablets and smart phones.

What will you do?

The work of the team involves defining the appropriate architecture and tool chain. Furthermore, feature design and UI design will be performed together with product management and with inputs from Modeldon's service and commercial departments and from customers. The work involves collaboration with modeling web app and backend teams to provide a coherent UX.

The work in the team will involve technologies such as ECMAScript, TypeScript, Python, PWA, RWA, React, data science, statistics, optimization, Plotly, 3D visualization, machine learning and Jenkins.

• Ensure the delivery of our projects: It's a hands-on role so we expect you do development and code reviews. While full-time development is not part of the role, we encourage you to take part in the development activities of your choosing to keep your skills updated.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Manager, Team Leads and Scrum Master, to make sure our projects are delivered efficiently and following our standards and best practices.
• Nurture and assess developers assigned to you: Encourage curiosity and continuous learning in the area you are an expert in.
• Provide insights to and collaborate closely with the CTO to improve the engineering skills of the team. Coordinate activities between all engineering areas.

Required skills and qualifications

• 5 years or more of professional development experience.
• Experience in TypeScript, Python and React.
• Prior experience as Team Lead/Tech Lead/Architect is a plus.
• Enjoy working on challenging solutions and systems.
• Believe that building great applications is not only about delivering code that "works", but involves thinking about reusability, maintainability, security, and performance.
• Curious, structured, with a "Can do attitude" and a product mindset.
• Enjoys collaboration within the team and with other departments.
• Good at communicating in both Swedish and English.

• Experience of Agile development and practices.
• Jenkins, ECMAScript, PWA, RWA, data science, statistics, optimization, 3D Visualization and machine learning.
