Engineering has a key part to play within IWS (Intersnack Work Systems - our version of Lean/Continuous Improvement) as Progressive Maintenance (PM) and Initiative Management (IM) are the pillars that Engineering leads. As Area Engineering Manager it is highly likely that you will either be the lead or deputy for PM and/or IM and be a Work Process Owner (WPO) or Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the various Daily Management Systems (DMS’s) within and work seamlessly with Autonomous Maintenance (AM) in delivering the various phases of the IWS journey.
As one of our Area Engineering Managers, you'll co-lead and input into the direction of the site particularly around Engineering and be heavily involved in driving efficiency throughout the site.
Your key areas of responsibility will be:
People, Planning, Delivery and Compliance
All day-to-day and medium-term direction of the Engineering department and team
Shared control (with the other AEM) of the Engineering R&M and CapEx budgets

Size - Employs 140 permanent staff, the site is 13,000m² and operates 24/5
History - In 1914 Butterkist is invented in Kentucky. During 1938 Butter-Kist machines appear for the first time in the UK. Original Pontefract factory opened in 1998. Factory rebuild completed in 2007 at a cost of more than £70m following 2005 fire
Products - Both oil-popped and air-popped corn as well as microwave at home varieties
Key stats - Pontefract processes 9,000 tonnes of popcorn a year

The ideal candidate profile:
HNC (minimum) in an Engineering subject
Similar experience in a similar organisation
Some form of Lean type qualification or experience
Electromechanical skills preferably apprentice trained
Analytical and welcomes challenge
Good people and role modelling skills
Supportive and able to get the best from people
Great communication and interaction skills with their team and beyond
