Lime Engineering Culture

Software is the core of our business at Lime and there is no gap between engineers and business. We work together in a cross-functional mid-size team (3-5 people). We meet regularly with our Product Managers and decide what is essential to the product and how it should evolve.

Every engineer at Lime is a problem solver who strives to understand how everything fits together. We do pragmatic solutions to hard problems, a good mix of freedom and responsibility, and most importantly – we have a great time at work! We are encouraged to come up with new ideas and experiment a lot. We think long-term and our ambition is to write clean and maintainable code. Our engineers take ownership of architecture and automated testing.

We always stick to the “best tool for the problem” approach – we listen to industry trends with interest, but evaluate if something is right for us. We do things that matter to our customers and maintain a vision to stay on the right path.

The team today

We are a small, ambitious, and autonomous development team consisting of a mix of mid to senior engineers who primarily work with the Laravel Stack.

Being part of a Lime Engineering team will give you a lot of freedom and we guarantee no code monkey business.

We are following a lightweight and agile process called ShapeUp. It looks a lot like Scrum, but is just working better, at least for us! ;) If you are curious to learn more we recommend you read this blog article from one of our Product Owners.

Requirements

• Deep Passion for Coding and Architecture: You love to reason and think about code and it's architecture.
• Pragmatic ‘Get-It-Done’ Attitude: You have a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to efficiently prioritise tasks to deliver results in a timely manner.
• A natural leader: You have a natural aptitude for leadership and a driven, self-motivated mindset. No previous experience is needed.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other departments.
• Experience: 5+ years of professional working experience as a Software Engineer.
• Engineering proficiency: You are proficient with frameworks such as Laravel and VueJS.

Nice to have

• Experience in running/hosting software in production environments.
• Experience working with Python.
• Experience working with Docker.
• Experience with migrating Laravel applications to a containerised environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Our main stack

• Laravel Stack (>7).
• Infrastructure is based on a hybrid setup. A mix of Linux VMs, AWS, and containers.
• CI/CD is based on GitHub Actions.

Even though we try our best, our tech and processes are far from perfect. That is why we are looking for a like-minded engineer to join us on the journey of building and supporting a next generation product we can be proud of! We can see that further down the line, there may be a tech shift towards Python.
