What you will do?
As Manager R&D, you will be part of- and lead a team of five scientists working in the area of molecular biology, assay development, performance evaluation and flow cytometry analysis. The function reports to the CEO and will work in close collaboration with both CTO and Product Development Manager. Your responsibilities will be to;

• Lead a team of scientists, providing guidance, mentorship, and nurturing a collaborative
  environment
• Develop and implement laboratory protocols, workflows, and procedures to ensure consistent and accurate record keeping and data analysis.
• Oversee the daily operations in the lab, manage resource allocation and assure efficient collaboration and communication within the team as well as with external stakeholders.
• Support the team in experiment planning, result analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Take ownership of R&D operations; laboratory facilities and equipment, including ensuring equipment maintenance, inventory management, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Represent Rarity in external research collaborations and service projects.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team, optimizing processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

You will also be a laboratory hands-on resource in R&D operations, supporting;

• Product development, including assay design, optimization, verification and validation.
• Analysis of samples for external parties for scientific applications.
• Exploratory discovery work, designing new assays for novel applications.

Your profile
To be successful in this role, we believe that you are a structured, goal oriented and innovative problem solver committed to make a difference. You are used to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and have strong communication skills.

Other qualifications:

• Most likely you have a Master or Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biomedical, Chemistry, Biology, or related field)
• You have worked several years in life science industry, for example with medical device, IVD, service laboratory, or pharma.
• You have knowledge of regulatory standards and quality management systems.
• You would have extensive experience in molecular biology such as nucleic acid manipulation and amplification techniques and other molecular tool-related experiences.
• Communicating in English on a professional level, written and verbally, comes naturally for you.
• Experience of flow cytometry is a clear advantage.

About Rarity Bioscience
Rarity Bioscience provides ultrasensitive multiplex assays for detecting rare nucleic acid sequences in biological samples like liquid biopsies for research, pharma and clinic. Our main application is in cancer diagnostics based on our superRCA technology platform, which permits read-out based on flow cytometry, an already existing instrumentation in many labs.

The company was founded 2021 based on a discovery by Dr Lei Chen, PhD in molecular biology and a member of Professor Ulf Landegren’s team at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University.
