Title Productivity follow up and efficiency in the Construction Industry
Background
Within the construction industry productivity increases significantly slower than other areas of our societies production industries, also construction industry have wide deficiencies in systematic follow-up of productivity. This depends on different conditions that affect productivity efficiency as well as the different methods for productivity follow ups in construction projects. Productivity efficiency is believed to be correlated to different parameters such as changed prices and quantities. Identifying these conditions and addressing them is crucial for understanding the mechanism behind improving productivity and straightening efficiency and profitability. Construction industry also have technical and methodical limitations to productivity follow up and systematic improvement on future findings. Despite technological advancements in software, several challenges continue to hinder the productivity follow up and making the production process more efficient. One of the reasons is different ways of follow up productivity and making the production more time-, quality-, and cost effective.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to contribute to the discussions on why construction industry has a stagnated efficiency in its production. And also explore whether this is specific to Swedish conditions. With the purpose that the study it can investigate the common challenges faced by the construction industry.
Aim
This thesis aims to: - Identify the key challenges in productivity follow up and efficiency. - Evaluate Swedish conditions that can affect productivity follow up and efficiency. - Provide recommendations for systematic follow up on productivity and give recommendation to focus areas that can enhance productivity.
Method
The study will use a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative research. It will involve: - A review of existing literature on construction industry productivity follow up and efficiency. - Surveys and interviews with industry professionals to gather insights into current practices and challenges. - Case studies of companies using productivity follow up software in construction industry. - Data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of these tools in enhancing the analysis of productivity in production and the different conditions impact on productivity outcome.
