Purpose of the Role:
The Project Manager is responsible to deliver industrial scale solar and energy storage construction projects safely, on-time, on budget, and to the required quality. This position will initially be focused on delivering large scale stand alone energy storage projects. In the future the position will deliver both stand alone energy store and co-located solar and energy storage projects.
Role Requirements:
Preconstruction Phase
- Prepare the project construction schedule
- Review the project budget developed by the Preconstruction Team’s Estimator; and
- Participate in the balance of plant contract negotiations; ensure the scopes of work are accurate and complete; and ensure the cost is accurate.
Construction Phase
- Ensure the highest level of environmental health and safety on assigned renewable energy project(s);
- Manage the project(s) budget and schedule to ensure on-time and on budget project delivery;
- Manage the QA/QC process to ensure what is delivered is to the specified quality;
- Proactively mitigate or eliminate change orders;
- Proactively manage, mitigate, and eliminate issues that would delay the project schedule or impact the project budget (both positive or negative).
- Ensure all change orders are accurate, appropriate, documented, approved per the Change Order Approval Process, and the SAP approvals accurately reflect the contract value;
- Ensure project documentation (project schedule, budget, change order log, risk matrix, weekly reports, and meeting minutes) are accurate, up to date, and store properly.
- A project controls individual will be assigned to each project who will physically work on these documents. It will be the Project Manager’s responsibility that this process is done correctly.
- Participate in the balance of plant contract negotiations; ensure the scopes of work are accurate and complete; and ensure the cost is accurate.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders and provide them with appropriate direction and focus to ensure alignment of project goals and objectives in accomplishing tasks and activities.
- Maintain appropriate communication with senior management and all project groups and functions within and outside the company.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in renewable energy project management
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction related field from an accredited university
- Ability to understand contractual requirements; insurance provisions; and coordination of scopes of work between PV plant, HV, and BESS
- Ability to rely on experience and knowledge to mitigate risk and eliminate issues prior
- Ability to use documentation, contract language, and engineering drawings to refute or mitigate change orders.
- Ability to solve problems, drive issues to resolution, and close out projects
- Ability to motivate a team, provide leadership and communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders; and
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus
Travel Expectations
- 25% of the time spent on-site; 75% office or home based
