As an EH&S Engineering Senior Associate, you use your experience with renewable energy, safety, and operations, to mitigate risks to the business through Bowtie Methodology. The candidate will bring experience from renewables industry including known risk and mitigation methods and a willingness to identify in cooperation with Operational stakeholders risks to personnel, the environment, and company assets. After risks are identified the candidate will collaborate with field HSSE personnel and Operational stakeholders to lower risks to a level that is considered As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
Responsibilities:
- Work with sites and operations, engineering, and construction management to understand risks to workforce, assets, and the environment using bowtie methodology.
- Schedule and lead Asset Plant Safety workshops and training sessions to inform stakeholders of business needs and requests as it relates to Asset Plant safety.
- Collaborate with Governance and Performance department to audit processes involving risk identification and mitigation methods.
- Work with Operations and Finance departments to create business cases to support or decline solutions and mitigation methods.
- Coordinate with EH&S resources to ensure proper risk identification and mitigation methods exist for each location.
- Coordinate with EH&S resources to ensure site risk registers are updated and amended regularly.
- Work as a stakeholder in the Asset modification process (MODS) and instructions (EMI) on behalf of EH&S.
- Update EH&S management on active Asset modification cases as needed.
- Develop and maintain Asset Plant Safety processes to meet the needs of the business.
- Act as the Subject matter expert in regard to Asset Plant safety.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in safety or engineering. Note: Candidates with relevant working experience, relevant degrees, skill, and knowledge will be considered.
- Minimum of 4 years in the renewable energy industry, experience with multiple technologies advantageous.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Third party certification in safety and/or project management preferred.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Experience navigating standards, known good practices, and legal requirements within the region. (OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, EPA, DOT, ISO)
- Experience preparing and presenting risk mitigation strategies to operational leaders.
- Strong self-initiative and self-confidence to find solutions and solve problems independently.
- Reliable and systematic manner of working as well as customer orientation and resilient in terms of being able to centrally manage different stakeholder expectations.
- Detail orientation, formal accuracy, and striving for high quality results. (e.g. in document management and statistics)
- Proficient MS Office skills especially in Teams planner and Excel. Experience in Tableau report creation preferred.
- Ability to work alone and collaboratively via technology tools as well as in person with locations across the North American region.
- Ability to problem solve independently and influence stakeholders to gain desired result.
- Ability to travel 25-50% to meet business needs.
