Geophysicist
RWE Offshore Americas
Your role will be to deliver all technical aspects relating to the offshore and onshore geophysical data for our renewable energy projects.
You will be responsible for developing and continually improving onshore and offshore geophysical survey design, specification, technical tender assessment and acquired data collation and review, ensuring our surveys deliver high levels of quality and accuracy.
Alongside this you will bring proven experience on aspects such as UXO and geohazards identification and mitigation, mapping of seabed and subsurface features, ground model development and hydrographic and topographical data management.
The role will have an extensive remit, working across our portfolio of wind farms at all stages from early site prospecting to post-construction surveys.
As an RWE Geophysicist you will have:
- MSc or equivalent in Geophysics, or in a relevant geoscience discipline;
- A minimum of at least 5 years work experience as a Geophysicist
- Ability to QC large and varied geophysical datasets, including deliverables for sidescan sonar, magnetometer, gradiometer, sub-bottom profiler and UHR data;
- Proven background in shallow water geophysical surveys;
- Strong experience reviewing technical reports and managing large technical datasets;
- Interpretation and integration experience of sub-bottom profiler and UHR geophysical datasets;
- Experience integrating geophysical and geotechnical datasets;
- Familiarity with current and novel geophysical and nearshore survey techniques;
- Familiarity with specialist software such as ArcGIS, SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj, IHS Kingdom, etc.;
- Thorough appreciation of US regulatory requirements for offshore wind surveys;
- High regard and good knowledge of current US health, safety and environmental legislation;
- Good understanding of Industry Technical Codes, Process and Regulations;
- Understanding of requirements for pUXO, archaeological, environmental and hydrographic surveys for all stages of project development;
- Demonstrable competency in working within multi-discipline teams with a high level of communication skills at all levels;
- Willingness to travel within the US and internationally;
- Good communicator and excellent team player;
- Flexibility to work some time “out of hours” as part of a wider survey team to provide technical support to live survey projects would be desirable.
Ideally, you will also have:
- A high degree of interest to collaboarte with your global peers within the wider survey team to provide technical support to live survey projects would be desirable;
- Good understanding of Industry Technical Codes, Process and Regulations;
- Experience integrating geophysical and geotechnical datasets;
- Experience managing large technical datasets;
