Offshore Wind Development Director, Central Atlantic Region

"This position can be remote based within the Central Atlantic Region or can be based in Boston, MA."

RWE Renewables US Offshore Development Team is looking for a Development Director to support the development of offshore wind project opportunities across the Central Atlantic Region.

Responsibilities:

• Support the assessment and development of large and complex offshore wind projects through a lead role on project development topics, including leading a team comprised of subject matter experts across relevant disciplines
• Collaborate on Project’s development strategies, including objective-setting, schedule, and budget preparation; subsequently lead and manage Project’s development efforts against established baselines
• Responsible for developing and executing an external stakeholder management strategy relating to project:
  • Community Profile (County, Economic Development, ENGOS, Environmental Justice organizations, Higher Ed, etc.)
  • Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and Execution
  • Responsible for preparing Bidding Credit Conceptual Strategy
• Build and maintain strong relationships with all key identified stakeholders
• Build and lead working groups with local organizations, ENGOs, labor, tribes, etc., and coordinate with marine affairs and permitting teams to solicit and incorporate feedback into siting decisions and design of local benefits programs
• Represent and champion RWE as the face of the project, plan and prepare for public meetings and engage in public speaking and information forums to support the project opportunities
• Coordinate and provide input on the creation of project websites, newsletters, fact sheets, and other communications materials.
• Advise internal stakeholders on all project development-related topics and project requirements, including coordination across workstreams (e.g., technical, commercial) and “early and often” communication with senior management regarding the project’s development risks and progress against overall development timelines
• Provide oversight on external consultancies engaged in support of project’s development activities
• Work in conjunction with the US Offshore Government Relations team to identify opportunities to engage and/or advocate on behalf of offshore wind-relevant positions in the Central Atlantic Region
• HSE: Promote RWE Renewables “We Care” HSE standards and procedures; ensure that both local and global best practices and learnings are implemented across projects
• Travel will be required for this position

Work Experience:

• 8+ years of relevant experience preferred in leading positions in development and stakeholder initiatives as part of large infrastructure projects [or similar]; US offshore wind experience is strongly desired
• Proven leadership skills and managerial experience, ability to build and develop high performance teams and to motivate, comfortable in cross-cultural teams, and with a strong commitment to ensuring increased diversity and inclusion

Leadership & Interpersonal Skillset:

• Results-oriented and Entrepreneurial mindset, ability to analyze and summarize complex development topics and aggregate decision-relevant information to convey messages clearly and concisely.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people of different backgrounds and cultures, must be a team player
