The Senior Category Manager - BESS Procurement will develop and implement procurement category and contract strategies for Battery Energy Storage Equipment in support of RWE Clean Energy's global business.
Responsibilities:
- Solar & Energy Storage Category and Contract management (with a primary focus on Battery Energy Storage)
- Develop, implement and proactively manage equipment categories with a comprehensive understanding of the market and regulatory environment
- Manage relationships with key suppliers, and coordinate overarching initiatives (e.g. MSA or Frame agreements)
- Develop the Procurement strategy for tendering, evaluating and contracting Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage equipment to support the new build energy storage projects
- Serve as the key interface between internal stakeholders (Development, Engineering, etc) and the supplier ecosystem
- Drive value creating procurement solutions
- Work closely with the Development, Engineering and Construction teams to analyze various procurement options for projects and assure Supply Chain activities are performed consistent with established schedules and budgets
- Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with major equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and major contractors providing services to the renewable energy industry
- Drive Supplier Relationship Management and Evaluation. Implement contractor performance and risk measures
- Ensure that policies, compliance rules and processes are properly implemented and observed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4+ years work experience in procurement or engineering in the renewable energy business with a primary focus on energy storage and solar PV
- Knowledge of the procurement process and experience in negotiating large power generation equipment contracts
- Knowledge of the tendering process, contract negotiations, contractual terms and conditions with respect to renewable power generation purchases, warranty provisions, balance of plant agreements, and equipment purchases
- Coordination skills to meet the needs of Development, Engineering, Construction, and Energy Marketing (Partnering) to successfully construct solar farms and energy storage projects in North America
- Thorough understanding of the market and regulatory environment
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and respond quickly to changes in the build program
