The Technical Training Specialist will design and conduct the technical & safety trainings, to align employee performance with the goals of the organization. Determine training objectives and write training programs; including outlines, text, handouts, and tests as well as designing practical exercises. Will also monitor and report the effectiveness of the training on employees familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the training field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The candidate will need a wide degree of creativity and latitude and be required to perform other related duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT) & eLearning on various technical and topics related to wind and solar farms.
- Lecture classes on topics such as electrical & hydraulic safety, operations & maintenance of machinery and equipment, etc.
- Responsible for performing training, practical exercises, evaluating competencies, performance evaluation, etc.
- Administer written and practical exams, along with writing performance reports to evaluate trainee’s performance.
- Climbing wind turbine towers for conducting on-the-job training.
- Coordinate the needs of employees with the necessary training needed to perform their specific jobs.
- Responsible for developing a variety of reports, exams, brochures, and manuals for training.
- Upload & maintain training material on training LMS and maintain accurate records & generate reports.
- Continuously evaluate and update training materials.
- Provide additional related service as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in the wind industry related to operations & maintenance of wind turbines.
- At least 4 years of work experience in the training & learning industry including the design of safety & technical courses.
- Associate's degree in a related field of either education/learning/training or wind turbine technology preferred.
- OSHA 500/501 trainer course for construction/general industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) is a must.
- Experience using Captivate, Adobe Presenter, or similar programs to create online training courses is preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Superior ability with MS Office, presentation, and communication.
- Good ability to verbally communicate and demonstrate complex concepts to a variety of people during a classroom and/or hands-on presentation, including assessing and checking for understanding during practical rescue exercises.
- Detail oriented: Must demonstrate detail and deadline-oriented mindset while managing multiple and changing priorities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Superior ability with MS Office, presentation, and communication.
- Regular travel is required to various wind farms. The average time spent traveling may exceed 30% and be based on business needs.
- Primarily a field environment; may include hazardous conditions such as working at heights up to 300’, working in confined spaces, exposure to bloodborne pathogens, exposure to energized electrical and rotating equipment, and working in extreme hot and cold conditions.
- The work requires providing first aid/CPR; must maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- The work will require irregular work hours depending upon the required response of site operations to address the unpredictable needs of the wind farm.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass a fit-for-duty medical examination upon hiring and every 2 years thereafter and maintain a body weight of 270 lbs. or less. The work also requires flexibility and a full range of movement in confined spaces.
- This work requires providing working at heights & rescue training; must maintain competent fall protection & rescue trainer certification.
- Must be able to sit, walk or stand for a long duration of time.
- Must be able to climb or balance.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Must be able to lift to (50) pounds.
