The Sustainability Team of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) is shaping the transition of the RWE group’s energy trading business with the target of being a sustainability leader The team is located in London and Essen and is responsible for sustainability supply chain excellence, the development of sustainable growth cases and general governance tasks, i. a. Wellbeing. You will be primarily responsible for the ESG risk management which is steadily growing and improving. You will be part of a diverse, creative and international team. - Responsible for RWEST's global ESG risk management to achieve the ambition of becoming a sustainability leader in international energy and commodity trading and ensuring full compliance with international supply chain due diligence legislation, e. g. German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, UK Modern Slavery Act, EU Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive
- Conduct risk analyses for human rights and environmental-related risks on a country and industry level, as well as for various counterparties in RWEST's international commodity trading business
- Develop remedial actions in the event of identified imminent risks in RWEST's supply chains and coordinate the implementation together with legal and front office teams
- Support commercial growth in line with ESG requirements and work closely with various commercial functions
- Interface for group-wide reporting on ESG risks to various stakeholders, including shareholders, ESG rating agencies, politicians and NGOs
- Drive the further development of the overarching ESG risk management system at RWEST and coordinate external ESG screening service providers
- Advise the commercial teams in RWEST on how to meet new sustainability requirements and expectations of various stakeholders
- Represent RWEST in group-wide sustainability initiatives to support the development of the group's sustainability agenda
- Raise awareness of sustainability requirements, risks, and opportunities and drive the integration of sustainability into the company DNA, e. g. by providing internal workshops, supporting internal communication on achieved successes
Your powerful skills
- Hold a University degree in economics, law, sustainability or natural sciences
- Have experience in conducting ESG supply chain assessments or KYC assessments
- Knowledgeable about ESG ratings and stakeholder-oriented sustainability management
- Demonstrate ambition to take ownership of tasks and work independently while also being a team player
- Experienced in defining and implementing cross-functional processes
- Possess analytical skills to develop independent opinions on ESG risks and derive effective measures
- Proficient in preparing management-oriented written reports and compelling Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
- Display curiosity and openness to learning and self-development, with an ability to think creatively to find effective solutions
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills
- You are fluent in English
Advantageous, but not a must
- Possess basic knowledge of energy trading and international commodity markets
- Proficiency in German and knowledge of other languages is a plus
