Sandvik Coromant Trondheim is market-leading in the development and production of tooling solutions aimed at reducing vibration. The tools are part of the Sandvik Coromant offer of damped solutions under the name Silent Tools™. About the job
In this role, you’re part of our Damped Solutions department and work in close collaboration with the team to secure a high-quality product. We develop and maintain our core technology and play a key role in ensuring increased performance of our products, as well as adding true value for all customers using them. You take part in the entire development process from concept design to creation and verification of the final product. To ensure that we continuously develop and stay two steps ahead, you interact with other parts of our organization and share skills and best practices in your area of expertise – both in your function and other internal networks – and capture new ideas and apply them in a way that adds value to our business!
The location for this position is Trondheim, Norway with the opportunity to remote work. Some travel is included in your job.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a university degree combined with relevant knowledge in product development or product design. Preferably you have a few years of experience from product development work – either as a full-time job or as a work alongside your studies where you can show us examples of your work. We believe you have knowledge in the areas of 3D CAD modelling and FEM analysis, as well as practices such as design for assembly and design for manufacturing. You should also have a good understanding of all phases in a development cycle such as pre study, requirement analysis, development, fault finding, verification and support during the lifecycle of the product. Experience in machining and relevant technical knowledge in vibration damping, metal cutting processing and similar professional areas is considered an advantage.
Acting locally in a global environment calls for excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian or Swedish.
You’re a structured problem-solver who are good at planning and you work equally well independently as you do in a team. You like challenges and can set goals and deliver results. You drive the work forward and have a great interest in developing businesses with the help of ideas, initiatives and ongoing improvements. You also use your communication skills to convey messages both verbally and in writing, and in this way ensure that all parties involved in a case have the correct information.
