Port Manager, Fishguard (£55,000 - £60,000)
We're seeking a dynamic and experienced operations expert to take on the pivotal role of ensuring safe and efficient operations across our port in Fishguard. With a focus on fostering strong relationships with vessels and customers, you'll oversee check-in/out procedures and coordinate with Fleet operations to optimize ship-shore activities. Driving continuous improvements and ensuring a proactive safety culture are imperative, along with incident reporting and claims handling. Join us in leading the way in port management excellence.
Some of your key responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for coordination of safe and efficient operations in port, including the relationship with the vessels and customers.
- Overall responsible for check-in/out and of all customers and goods in all ports and terminals within the area of responsibility.
- Undertake regular coordination and follow up with Fleet operations in order to increase efficiency of daily ship-shore operation.
- Ensure that all financial reporting, budgets, BOM (bill of material) and standard costs are defined and maintained for all ports within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure that all port operational agreements and SLAs are valid, aligned with safe and efficient operation with minimize environmental impact and aligned with corporate standards.
- Ensure performance of internal and external suppliers is done according to the agreed SLA, contracts and standards.
- Drive continuous improvements by cost and quality measurement (budget and KPI) on operational service deliveries by Fleet Operations and port suppliers.
- Reduce and minimize damages by an active participation and contribution to the Stena Line claims prevention concept. Overall Responsible for claims handling within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure and develop a proactive port safety culture together with the HSSE Partner and Group Port Safety & Security Manager.
- Incident and corrective action reporting to Group Safety & Security (Doc Map) and to Regional Port Operations Manager.
- Support investigations of all incidents involving significant disruption, damage or injury related to Port & Terminal operations.
- Coordinate and maintain the relationship with port operators, authorities, owners and other port stakeholders aligned with Trade Director within the area of responsibility.
- Participate in procurement processes during contract extensions, new contracts or any other matters related to renewal or establishment of contracts related to suppliers in the ports in line with company standards and policies.
- Responsible for making sure necessary environmental permits are valid.
- Responsible for fulfilling other legal environmental and safety obligations (national, regional) that the port operations are governed by.

Qualifications:
- Background in transport, logistics, shipping, or related fields.
- Strong leadership skills demonstrated in operational settings.
- Proficiency in budget management.
- Prior experience in auditing procedures.
- Knowledge of: Working environment – local/national laws and regulations, IMDG / Dangerous goods, International Port and Ship Security Code, MCA Oil Spill response, H&S Management systems, Working Knowledge of relevant international standards relating to Environmental, Health and Safety and Quality
- Full UK Driving license
