So, what will I be doing?
Reporting to the Procurement Manager for Dairy, the Yeo Valley Organic Dairy and Dairy Ingredients Buyer, will be responsible for the procurement of defined Organic Dairy and Dairy Ingredients for our Yeo Valley Farms (Production) Ltd (YVFP) and Yeo Valley Fruits (YVF) businesses. With a major focus on quality, service, cost and sustainability, your role will be to identify, select and manage suppliers; working with business stakeholders to identify and implement end to end supply chain optimisation and risk management programs. Which will be critical to ensuring that our organic dairy and dairy ingredients procurement supports the delivery our Yeo Valley growth ambitions and impacts.

Key responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of category plans for dairy ingredients and cultures categories which address consumer, customer and brand requirements in the areas of cost, service, quality and sustainability. Completing market reviews where applicable to identify potential new sources of supply
- Negotiate forward pricing, supplier contracts and master supply agreements that drive long-term improvements in supplier and business performance.
- Work with the Supplier Relationship Manager – Dairy and business stakeholders to optimise supplier performance for managed categories across key areas of quality, service, sustainability and cost.
- You will partner with customers, suppliers and business stakeholders to, identify and implement workstreams that reduce the total supply chain cost and, manage supply risks of organic dairy and dairy ingredients.
- Support the business budgeting and forecasting processes. Ensuring that accurate and reliable price variance, cost saving initiatives, market reports and cover forecasts are accurately compiled and communicated within the business.
- You will also provide support and cover to the Procurement Manager – Dairy; with key support to the Procurement Manager – Dairy of the development of the Organic Dairy long-term procurement strategy.
Hours: 40 hours per week : Monday to Friday. Core working hours are between 8am and 6pm however flexible working hours could be discussed.
Location: We have sites across the South-West and our Head Office is in the idyllic Mendip Hills. Whilst there will be times when you will be working from our sites hybrid working options are in place.
Sounds interesting, what do I need?
- Prior procurement experience is essential – category management, contracting and tendering.
- We are looking for people with strong negotiation and influencing skills. The right candidate will be a proven collaborator and communicator, and a great relationship builder.
- We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated and adaptable, able to juggle multiple priorities and able to work to tight or challenging deadlines.
- With excellent numeracy skills able to analyse and influence complex data, and navigate ambiguity in terms of business information with strong excel skills.
- Experienced in and enjoys complex problem solving.
- Excellent literacy and presentation skills, proficient in the use of MS Office.
It would be even better if you have any of the following relevant experience.
- Prior experience of sourcing dairy raw materials or ingredients
- Have worked in a food manufacturing / FMCG business
