Insights from the team

Our Team Characters works with sensor calibration: determining precisely how a sensor has been mounted on the vehicle and how the sensor data maps to the real world. Team Characters is part of the Perception and Compute Platform, where we develop calibration algorithms for sensors like LIDARs and cameras. Our work is essential in Computer Vision & Robotics, and we are committed to making autonomous-driving vehicles a reality. We collaborate with other teams and write production code for safety-critical systems. Our team culture is supportive and blame-free; when challenges arise, we work together to overcome them. 

Your Role and Day-to-Day Tasks:

As a Software Developer, you will:

• Solve performance issues of components during integration into vehicles.
• Write code, mainly in C++, for new features in our framework.
• Work with real data from next-generation sensor suites for autonomous vehicles.
• Train and support co-workers in calibration routines.
• Take an active role in the Scrum framework.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone who is not afraid to take the initiative and has a holistic view. You should be able to mentor and support more junior team members.

Essential Experience:

• Broad programming experience, specifically writing C++ production code.
• Industry experience in developing software, preferably for embedded real-time applications.
• Passion for code quality and long-term maintainability.
• B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics, Machine Learning, or similar (self-taught developers are welcome!).
• A strong team player, curious, and driven.

Nice to Have:

• Interest in Computer Vision.
• Experience with test frameworks such as GoogleTest.
• Good knowledge of Python.
• Familiarity with Linux environment, docker, system and integration tests, software architecture design.
