The Communications Manager will oversee the development and management of our communications and events strategies that tell the story of our Korean offshore wind activities internally and externally. This is an engaging and influential position that will support Senior Management in sharing the journey of positively developing the future of offshore wind in Korea. The right candidate will promote the development and execution of our Korean communications strategy.
This role works closely with a number of internal stakeholders, including the Head of Offshore Development, Regulatory Affairs, and other functional leaders, who work closely with government and industry stakeholders in furthering RWE’s Offshore Wind Development and business interests in Korea.
You will also closely cooperate with the RWE’s European-based PR & Communications and Press colleagues, in particular with regard to any media-related and external activities, and you will be supported by a local PR agency based in Korea.
Your main tasks:
- Together with the key internal stakeholders, develop and implement a public communications plan to support the development of RWE’s individual and wider portfolio of offshore wind projects in Korea including, but not limited to, local campaigns, public events, collaboration with various stakeholders, etc.
- Support developing the overall government relations and public relations strategy in close collaboration with the Head of Regulatory Affairs Korea and the European-based Group Communications & PR colleagues, especially in planning and preparing press releases, reactive statements, answering press enquiries, and engaging with selected national and local media.
- Support strengthening RWE’s visibility in the public towards our key stakeholders in the Renewables industry, decision-making authorities, local communities, and media in coordination with the key internal stakeholders.
- Planning, preparing, and accompanying interviews with Executives and other company subject matter experts in Korea.
- Prepare Executives and other public-facing employees for public speaking engagements in Korea.
- Active topic setting to support RWE’s business activities in Korea for daily, trade and national news channels (press & online) as well as developing a social media approach for RWE in Korea
- Oversee the planning and execution of Korean brand promotion activities including paid advertising campaigns
- Oversee the design and delivery of local community events, national exhibitions, seminars and other activities that provide RWE with communications and PR opportunities
- Oversee the design and creation of information material, such as animations, films, print and digital materials, etc. while using all communication channels
- Monitor a range of key news articles relevant to RWE’s business in Korea, providing a summary in both Korean and English for the senior management. This will include incident management and crisis communication.
- Work with our European-based Group Communications & PR colleagues to provide content and guidance to enable them develop and set up our Korean microsite within RWE.com
- Supporting the global communications team in promoting RWE Renewables Korea in our global social media presences (i.e. RWE’s LinkedIn channel), including identifying and preparing content for promotion
- Hands-on management of our social media, professional networking or other channels to actively promote business activities in Korea
- Overseeing the local PR agency
Your powerful skills:
- University degree in journalism, communications, public relations or similar discipline or equivalent
- Minimum 7-10 years in a public relations, corporate communications, media relations or media role
- Brand management and marketing experience
- Demonstrated success conducting external advocacy campaigns utilising a variety of earned, social and paid media tactics.
- Fluent and literate in Korean and English (oral and written)
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information in support of Executive communications
- Experience in overseeing the design and delivery of events to be leveraged for communications and PR opportunities
- Comprehensive Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills required
- Adaptability, out-of-the-box thinking and enjoyment in working together as a team to achieve goals
- Knowledge of the energy sector, especially renewable energies is an advantage
